Day 1 of My 4-Month Hybrid Athlete Program: Press Day

Today marks Day 1 of my four-month Hybrid Athlete Program—a new phase focused on building strength, power, athleticism, speed, and overall physical performance.

I started the week with Monday Press Day, and the goal was simple: build a strong foundation through heavy compound movements while still training the supporting muscles.

Monday Press Day

I began my workout with 5×5 squats. Even though squats are primarily a lower-body movement, they are an important part of my overall strength development. The focus was on controlled repetitions, stability, and building strength through consistent volume.

After squats, I moved on to 5×5 bench press. This was one of the main strength movements of the session, targeting my chest, shoulders, and triceps while working on improving my pressing strength.

Next came the 5×5 overhead press. This movement challenged my shoulders, triceps, and core while requiring stability throughout the entire body.

After the main compound lifts, I moved into accessory work:

  • Triceps cable extensions
  • Biceps curls
  • Shoulder press
  • Core exercises

I also included 5 minutes of cardio during the session to keep some conditioning work in the program.

I finished the workout with core training, bringing the first session of my four-month program to an end.

Why I’m Starting This Program

This program isn’t just about getting bigger muscles or lifting heavier weights. My goal is to become a hybrid athlete—someone capable of developing strength, speed, explosiveness, conditioning, mobility, and endurance together.

Over the next four months, I’ll be documenting the process: the workouts, progress, weaknesses, improvements, challenges, and lessons along the way.

Today was only Day 1.

The numbers don’t matter as much as the process right now. The objective is to keep showing up, progressively increase my performance, improve my technique, and build an athletic body that is strong, fast, powerful, and well-conditioned.

Four months. One program. One goal: become a better athlete.

And this is where the journey begins.
