Today was Day 3 of my 4-month Hybrid Athlete Program, and the focus was simple: build strength with control, not ego.
For today’s session, I worked on my pulling strength and posterior chain with 5×5 deadlifts followed by 5×5 barbell rows. I then moved into weighted pull-ups to continue developing upper-body pulling strength.

After the main compound movements, I finished with accessory work:
- Hammer curls
- Biceps curls
- Face pulls
- Core training
- Mobility and stretching
One important decision I’m making during this phase is not chasing heavy weights yet. Even though the goal of this program is to become stronger, more athletic, and capable across multiple disciplines, I’m currently prioritizing proper technique, movement quality, stability, and consistency.
For deadlifts especially, I want every repetition to be technically sound—controlled setup, strong bracing, neutral positioning, proper bar path, and consistent execution. The same principle applies to rows, pull-ups, and every other movement.
There is plenty of time to increase the load.
Right now, I’m building the foundation that will allow me to handle heavier weights safely later in the program.
The Philosophy: Earn the Weight
I don’t want to prove how much I can lift on Day 3.
I want to prove that I can train consistently for the next four months.
Progressive overload will come gradually. First comes technique → control → consistency → volume → load.
This approach may look slower in the beginning, but the objective is long-term performance rather than short-term numbers.
Day 3 is complete.
No ego. No rushing. Just disciplined work, better movement, and another step toward becoming a stronger and more complete hybrid athlete.
